The Hockey Academy of St. Louis' Defense Academy is based on NHL experience from Bryce Salvador and Rick Zombo, two professional players that have patrolled the blue line for the St. Louis Blues. These players have reached the highest level of hockey, and now they have developed a comprehensive program aimed at teaching hockey players of all ages and abilities the proper way to play defense. Defense Academy for Associations This program encompasses 3.5 hrs of off-ice education with on-ice executable drills geared toward building the proper foundation of a “defense first” attitude for associations, players and coaches. Off-ice sessions target stickhandling skills and emphasize quick-release shooting techniques. On-ice sessions give players and coaches the opportunity to experience the correct defensive positioning and techniques in game situations. Each coach in attendance will receive a copy of the written, on-ice practice plans use throughout the season.
